Purpose and Limitations of the Report

PURPOSE

The issue of a research memorandum on the reasons for the reconstructed fence alignment and garden placement in the Bigot property (Block 2), explaining anomalies, such as why the archaeological evidence of a latrine constructed in the 1740s is not included and why a well that spanned the 1720 - 1750's period was not included in the reconstruction, and why there are 2 right angles in the fence line rather than the one that appears on period plans.

LIMITATIONS

The landscape record for Block Two, Lots F/G/H is quite extensive, and this memorandum in no way attempts to discuss all of its facets, or reproduce the existing evidence required for its reconstruction. Generally, it restricts its examination to selected geographical matters which help shed light on the unresolved issues identified in the "purpose" statement above.

Both the historical and archaeological record were examined where the information was readily available to the contractor during the contract period (November 19-December 14, 2001.)
