This report summarizes research on the Fauxbourg and its occupants carried out in support of archaeological excavations in that area in 1968 and 1969. The difficulties in attempting to relate documentary and cartographic references to each other, and to the site itself, will be evident from a reading of this report. While research on this subject could not be as comprehensive as the author would wish, and her findings in many regards remain uncertain, we feel that this report win serve a useful purpose by listing and identifying the properties, structures and inhabitants that are presently known to have been in the Fauxbourg.
