The Administration Of Justice At The Fortress Of Louisbourg (1713-1758) 1724
[815] Marie Savaria petitioned the Council concerning the welfare of her child by Piesrés who, she charged, had seduced her with promise of marriage. She had confessed her guilt
Finding herself completely abandoned and without resources, she threw herself "Comme une Victime malheureuse a [les] pieds" of the Council, asking that they accept her deposition so that her child will not die of hunger." Signed Marie Savaria.
[816] Etienne Duneau, archer de la marine, certified that he instructed Piesrés "maitre cordonnier," to appear before the Council the following Monday. Signed by Duneau.
[811: p. 41a] Marie Savaria, native of Quebec and servant in Louisbourg, informed the Council that a "quidan," Piesrés a "cordonnier," fathered her child, Marie Jeanne who had been baptised in the parish church. After questioning both parties, the Council condemned Pierrés to pay the sum of 30 livres to Marie Savaria "pour frais de Coucher & langer a lenfant en outres dix Livres par mois a Commencer de ce jour." [Remainder of document found several folios forward. Signed by Le Normant De Mesy. The remainder of the sentence is given but document is badly damaged, so see ff. 813-814.]
[813-814] This repeats the facts found on [811] except that the Council's sentence is more explicit. Piesrés was to pay the 30 livres
Given in the Council chamber. Signed Genier.
[822: p. 42a] Piesrés appealed the sentence handed down by the Council on August 14, but the Council upheld the sentence and ordered that it be immediately executed. Signed Le Normant De Mesy
